Mangalore, Aug 8: The chairman of the city’s Fiza Developers, Moideen Bava, who won the Mangalore team in the Karnataka Premiere League (KPL) auction said that as per regulations each team can only have three players of the locality and the remaining will be absorbed through bidding from the list of players released by the KPL.
Speaking at a press conference, Bava said that the KPL has already shortlisted 48 players and each team in the state must get six players by paying a maximum of Rs 7 lac through bidding.
“Another 100 players will be released for selection of remaining players by the Karnataka State Cricket Academy (KSCA). For the Mangalore team, only three Mangaloreans can be added”, Bava said.
“The city is facing a shortage of cricket players who can play for KPL, because of the lack of stadium and turf pitches. So the practice will be at Bangalore”.
“The sponsorship for the KPL-Mangalore team will be taken up jointly by Fiza Developers and Global Associates”, he said, adding that the coach for the team and a CEO will be appointed on Saturday August 8.
The coach will also be selected from the list published by the KPL.

He added that it could not be confirmed at this moment whether KPL Mangalore team would succeed in getting these players in its fold through bidding. Santhosh Suvarna, chairman, Global Associates, was also present.
