Mangaluru: Expert adds sparkle to inmates of hospice on Deepavali

Mangaluru, Oct 28: Students and staff of Expert PU College, Valachil, Mangalore celebrated Deepavali in a different manner, by visiting and entertaining terminally ill inmates of Ave Maria Paliative care, a 15-bed Hospice at Vamanjoor, a unit of Centre for Development,Studies & Education.

As many as 17 student parliament members and class representatives took up the call of the Expert Educational Charitable Foundation and visited the hospice and spent nearly 2 precious hours with them.

They distributed fruits and biscuits for the inmates. Students presented songs to rejoice the patients, some of them waved their hands intune with the music.

Meenakshi, a bedridden patient also got up from the bed, with the help of nursing assistant and sung for children, was a rare scene.

As a philanthropic gesture of the college, they donated Rs. Eleven thousand one hundred and eleven and other items such as, plastic furniture, bed sheets, bed spreads, buckets and mugs were given thoughtfully with Love.

Dr Lavina Noronha, the director of Ave Maria Paliative care, Clinton, Sanita, the nursing supervisors welcomed and encouraged the team.

Expert PU College principal Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, AICE co-ordinater, Prof Shyamprasad Bhat, head of the department. of Kannada Suresha, former head Vidyasharada, secretary of Student Parliament Nidhi Shetty, Sreekar Panchangam etc accompanied the team.
