Puttur: Police’s Move to Hold Separate Meeting For Hindus, Muslims Invites MP’s Ire

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SB)

Puttur, Aug 9: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel expressing his discontent over Puttur assistant superintendent of police’s (ASP) move of holding separate meeting for Muslims and Hindus in connection with the disturbing developments that occurred here last week said that he will bring to the notice of the senior police officials and inspector general of police (western range) Gopal Hosur that henceforth peace meeting should be organized in the presence of the all communities involved in the incidents along with the people’s representatives and media too present at the meeting.

Informing media persons Kateel taking severe exception to people’s representatives and media men being excluded from the separate meeting held for Muslims and Hindus by the ASP said that senior police officials have already been strictly informed that such meetings which hides information from the public and conducted without taking public into confidence should not be held in any police stations or sub-divisions in the district. Kateel said that he received several telephone calls from the public condemning the separate meetings held by the ASP for Muslims and Hindus and also informed that such meetings should not be held in the district.

I have informed home minister Dr V S Acharya too in this regard, said Kateel.

FUNNY, FUNNY, FUNNY........ n look who''s talking....... I think MP''s are better off looking after the infrastructure problems and various other welfare activities of the public than indulge in meetings/religious affairs. People of all religions are at peace with each other, IF NO POLITICAL INTERVENTION

Police''s move is to hold separate meeting is correct. Our MP Mr.Nalin Kumar was attending one meeting before last month regarding the flyover work delay at B.C.Road and road work delay between Mangalore & B.C.Road. In that meeting all local leaders and concern engineers from contractor side also attended. Our MP could not speak properly in this issue. The whole meeting was commanded by Nagarag Shetty. A comman man can think a person can''t argue for our rights in a local meeting how he will speak in the parliament?

The MP Nail Kumar is upset because he and his people are not taken into confidence by the police. This is a very clear example of how politicians interfere the peace process organized by the police department. The ASP is more qualified person than the MP and has more knowledge to control the situation.

MP Sri Nalinkumars stand is appreciable but he cant say he is right as the ASP has a reason he wants wants peace in his area, while the vhp/bajrangdal wants to create ruckus. Its better if the honorable MP devote his time in development projects like the train services and prove that his party is better then congress.Action speaks louder then words. George is remembered for Konkan railway, So what does MP Sri Nalinkumar want to be remembered as choice is his .

I wonder our newly elected MP is interested in an amicable solution for the disputes arised among two different community people periodically in DK & Udupi districts may be he is bit frustrated because he cannot protect his partymen (goondas) who often take shelter under the umbrellas of leaders after disturbing peace in that region.

Some times in the back of some communal disturbances, Joint Peace meetings of confronting communities, yield no result because of blame game by each other and many of the time it gives chance to more confrontation. With this point in mind if the Police Officer of the concerned area finds it suitable and helpful for the Peace, then what''s wrong in it?

What is  wrong in calling separate meetings? ASP has done good job. I mean BJP people are thinking "Hindu Leaders means it should BJP leader" ASP might have called all parties hindu leaders (Congress,BJP,JDS etc.)during Hindu leaders meeting, may be this reason MP is angry.

I don''t think these peace meetings will work out in Dakshina Kannada and udupi as long as they involve political parties and organizations who are responsible for the communal clashes. The best thing to do is to give the responsibility to persons like Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade who can handful of persons from all the community and work on it. I am sure, this will do wonders and we can start a new era in Mangalore and Udupi.
