Panaji, Oct 30: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, on Tuesday claimed that the cargo vessel with flammable liquid stuck near Goa coast had originated from Pakistan.
Citing RTI documents filed by a local in July this year to highlight the 'Pakistan link' of the ship, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), president Girish Chodankar said, "It is a matter of national security as the vessel, according to documents obtained under RTI, had originated from Pakistan," as quoted by PTI agency.
Since October 25, the unmanned vessel 'MT Nu Shi Nalini', carrying 2,600 metric tonnes of naphtha, 50 tonnes of heavy oil and 19 tonnes of diesel, has been running aground near Dona Paula close to the Goa Raj Bhavan.
The Goa government has already requested defence authorities to provide all the necessary equipment to empty the tanker at the earliest.
