Mangaluru, Nov 1: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School celebrated ‘Deepavali & Eid celebrations pn Thursday, October 31 in the school hall.

The dignitaries of the day were Joseph Dsouza, chief guest, retired headmaster, St Aloysius High School Mangaluru, Fr Gerald Furtado SJ, correspondent, K Arvind, vice president of PTA and Philomena Lewis, headmistress.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song.

The significance of Deepavali was displayed by a power point presentation with reference to scriptures from Ramayana.

The significance of Eid was briefed by the preschoolers, followed by the cultural programme.

The chief guest in his message addressed on unique features of Deepavali and the importance of victory over light from darkness. “Eid is a festival of love, peace and understanding and the importance of celebrating Eid,” he said.

The winners of the free hand competition were felicitated.

Fr Gerald Furtado SJ in his message said, “We all belong to different religions, but we all belong to the same country. We all are Indians. We all should join in the celebration of different religions and actively be a part of it.” He congratulated the pre-schoolers for taking an active participation in the event.

The programme was anchored by Ranjitha and Swathi, followed by singing the national anthem.
