India, Germany ink 11 pacts after Modi-Merkel talks


New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS): India and Germany signed five declarations of intent and 11 pacts in areas like space, civil aviation, medicine and education, as visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here as part of the 5th Inter Governmental Consultations.

PM Modi, in his address, said that India and Germany have agreed to boost bilateral and multilateral cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism.

Both sides are also focusing on strategic cooperation in the field of new and advanced technology. The two sides have stressed on cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, skills, education, cyber security, he added.

The two countries have also agreed to explore cooperation in new areas like e-mobility, fuel cell technology, smart cities, inland water ways, coastal management, cleaning of rivers and climate change, he added.

"We invite Germany to take advantage of opportunities in the field of defence production in defence corridors in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu," Modi said.

He said in the path of building a 'new India' by 2022, the expertise of technological and economic power houses like Germany would be useful.

Both sides have agreed to boost business and investment links and for that would encourage private sector participation, he added.

    German Chancellor Angela Merkel raised the Kashmir issue during her talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening and conveyed that the "situation for the people in Kashmir is unsustainable and not good", according to German journalists accompanying her.

    Earlier, during a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Merkel remained seated while the national anthem of both countries was being played. India accepted a request by the German government to allow Merkel to remain seated as she is suffering from a medical condition.

    First, she sat while the Indian national anthem being played. then slammed PM Modi's BJP ruled central government for deteriorating Kashmir situation which remains to under blockade for the last three months.

    Action talks..like the CHINESE.
    vs we are all JUGGAAD, Traders
    like to talk, gossip,
    waste precious time..
    Bring in the Japanese and German to teach/ train our youth to build skills/technology, innovation.

    Indians can do wonders with our intelligence and german technology.
    Bring them on Board.
    open up to Germans: Japnese: Scandinavians.brng in all of their Micro/small/medium/klarge/ heavy industries in ventures, collaborations to start manufacturing in India. with value addition..
    We need to voluntarily get inducted into military service for 3years to build Discipline... Skills for Multitasking and work with Germans and Japanese

    This chancellor is fantastic who invited a great trouble into her country by inviting the REFUGEES ! and now we INDIAN endorsing her act ! Great Deal Mr.Modiji !

    Brotherhood is a false concept as their Countries of Brotherhood never invited those refugees who knock the doors for asylum ! what an ideology of BROTHERHOOD !
