Mangaluru: Vikaas PU College celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava

Mangaluru, Nov 2: Vikaas Pre-university College, Mangaluru, celebrated 64th Kannada Rajyotsava on Friday, November 1 with great pomp.

Dr Ismail N, retired principal, Badriya PU College, Mangaluru, was the chief guest of the function. In his inaugural address, he explained the historical importance of the day and stressed on the importance of preserving our mother tongue and also to preserve our culture. He motivated the students to respect all languages and cultures but nevertheless forget our own culture and language that is Kannada. He pointed out the remarkable achievement of Kannada literature in bagging Eight Jnanapeeta awards which is the greatest reward to Kannada and no other language can claim this. Trustee J Koragappa, spoke about coastal culture and their contribution to Kannada literature and also mentioned that Manglureans are open hearted and accept all cultures easily but more importance has to be given to one's own first was reminded in his speech.

Suraj Kumar Kallya, trustee, Vikaas Education Trust, Parthasarathy Palemar, coordinator, Vikaas Group of Institutions, Ayshwarya K, principal Vikaas First Grade College, Shobha P, HOD, department of Kannada were present on the occasion.

Dr Suneel B M, principal, Vikaas Pre- University College, welcomed the gathering, Ajith Rai, lecturer in Kannada hosted the programme.
