Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous) inaugurates NSS camp

Mangaluru, Nov 4: The inaugural function of the annual NSS camp of St Agnes College (Autonomous) here, was held on November 1 at Holy Family Sabha Bhavan, Meramajal, Bantwal taluk.

The chief guest for the function was Fr Allwyn Edward D’Cunha, parish priest, Holy Family Church, Meramajal, Bantwal Taluk. Sr Dr Jeswina AC, principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous) presided over the function.The other dignitaries present for the function included Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, joint secretary, Sr Carmel Rita AC, administrator, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, K Ravindra, zilla panchyat, member, Pudhu, Satish Nayga, president, Meramajal gram panchayat, Francis Mendonza, member, Meramajal gram panchayat, Sr Mabel, headmistress, Holy Family English Higher Primary School, Meramajal, Sr Prameela, headmistress, St Joseph Higher Primary School, Meramajal, Patrick Pinto, vice-president, Holy Family Church Parish Council, Meramajal, Ronald Pereira, vice president, PTA, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru.



The programme began with a prayer, followed by a welcome dance by the NSS volunteers. Derik Dais welcomed the dignitaries. The guests inaugurated the NSS camp by lighting a lamp. Fr Allwyn Edward D’Cunha addressed the gathering regarding the NSS camp and emphasized on the significance of unity among the youth irrespective of their caste, creed and religion for the overall progress and development of the nation.

Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC enlightened the audience on the importance of service by the youth of the nation and the role of the same in the development of society. The president of the function, Sr Dr Jeswina AC, principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous), then explained to the NSS volunteers the importance of NSS in daily life and its role in the overall personality development of an individual. She also appreciated the NSS volunteers for the selfless services rendered by them for the betterment of society. Vineetha, assistant NSS programme officer, proposed the vote of thanks.

The guests left the venue after dinner along with the NSS camp organisers.
