Udupi: Town Police Arrest seven Accused in Attempt to Robbery Case

Udupi, Aug 15: The police personnel, led by town police sub-inspector, arrested seven persons accused of plotting robbery, here on Thursday August 13 night. The policemen also recovered lethal weapons stocked in their car and confiscated the automobile in which they were travelling.



Acting on a reliable tip-off ,that a group of youth were plotting to commit robbery within the city limits, on Thursday night, the police team led by sub-inspector Maruti G Nayak intercepted a Toyota Tavera and found nine persons travelling  in the vehicle, with lethal weapons.  The policemen arrested seven persons out of nine, while two others managed to escape.  The police personnel recovered machetes, wooden sticks, iron rods, chilli powder, seven mobile handsets and also seized their car.



The arrested persons have been identified as twenty two years old Santosh Poojary, twenty years old Tilak Raj, twenty two years old Ajesh Poojary, twenty seven years old Suresh Kumar and twenty six years old Navin Shetty, all residents of Akash Bhavan, Mangalore city, and twenty seven years old Nagaraj Poojary, a resident of Kulai – Kodikere, on the outskirt of Mangalore, twenty eight years old Ravi Poojary, a resident of Hirebettu, here.  Sharan and Sudhir were identified as the other two who absconded.

Town police have registered a case in this regard and investigations are underway.

    Once again its proved that criminals and terrorists have no religion. Very unfortunate and sorry that these youths are spoiling their future. If they are rightly guided, they are assets to our society. I feel they are all from broken homes and their parenting and upbringing was full of flaws.

    These are unemployed youth''s, Govt should do something for these people or else more and more people will take up crime as their profession. Give them some work so that they will be resposible citizen''s. No one is a criminal by birth situation''s make one a criminal.
