Swine Flu - No Fresh Cases in DK, Three Confirmed, Three Suspected in Udupi

Mangalore, Aug 17: On Sunday August 16, no fresh cases of suspected swine flu were reported from Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. Test reports in respect of the five suspected swine flu cases reported on Friday have come in, and all of them have tested negative. With this, out of the total 36 suspected swine flu cases in the district, seven were confirmed to have contracted the H1N1 virus. All of them have been discharged after treatment.

A helpline (No.2425038) relating to H1N1 cases has become operational in Wenlock Hospital in the city from Saturday August 15 onwards. The helpline is receiving regular queries seeking information on swine flu, sources said.

In Udupi district, all the three persons, who got admitted to Manipal Hospital with swine flu symptoms on Saturday, have tested positive to the presence of H1N1 virus. Out of the three, two are from Manipal, while the other person is from outside the district. The total number of confirmed swine flu cases in the district has risen to 13 so far, with three more suspected cases having been reported on Sunday. Out of the 13, four were discharged on Saturday and another person is likely to be discharged on Monday August 17.  A 24-hour helpline with the number 0820 - 2524925 has been pressed into service at the office of the deputy commissioner here, to provide information and answer queries relating to H1N1 flu.
