Bangalore, Aug 17: A wonderful programme, an unique session of prayer and worship, was organized by the Proclamation Commission and the Bangalore Catholic Renewal Services (BCCRS), Archdiocese of Bangalore, on the occasion of India’s 63rd Independence Day, to pray for the nation and its leaders, on Saturday, August 15, at 4 pm. The programme was held at Sophia High School Auditorium in the city, in which business persons, politicians, bureaucrats, professions, senior executives, an alliance of Catholic professionals took part.

Fr Jecob Britto led everyone in prayer, followed by lighting the Menorah by the Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras along with seven little children.

Dr Moras, in his key note address, appreciated the change in the face of the church by laity, accepting the call to be the ministers of the church. “We are here to recognize God’s blessings in our lives, where God is still in control. We have come together to thank God for His countless blessings on us. We should choose and use every opportunity at our disposal. We are here to fulfill the mission of Christ to proclaim the good news and be His witnesses. Church of Bangalore is known to be the Rome of East,” he added. God will make a way where there is no way.  He concluded by wishing everyone a happy Independence  Day and happy assumption  feast.

This was followed by a healing session and vote of thanks. Sr Adele of prison ministry prayed for all the people in the world for peace and harmony, especially the prisoners, that God may intervene in their lives and change them to be better human beings.
Moreen Motwani compered the programme in a befitting manner.

The programme concluded at 6.30 pm with a final blessing from Dr Bernard Moras. This was followed by high tea to one and all.
