Kasargod: 12 Injured in Bus-Truck collision

Kasargod, Aug 18: After a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation(KSRTC) bus and a Truck collided with each other near Kumble Kanipura Lord Gopalakrishna Temple on national highway 17 on Monday August 17, 12 persons sustained injuries.

The driver of the bus, named Vinod from Payyannur, was critically injured and was admitted into a hospital in Mangalore. Truck drivers Santosh and Haridas from Maharashtra too are injured. Ten bus passengers including Ibrahim, Kalandar Shafi, Manikanta from Mangalore, Ibrahim and Siddiq from Bellare, Munawar from Bekal and T V Chandran, were injured. They have been admitted into different hospitals.

At the time of the accident, the bus was moving to Kanhangad from  Mangalore, while the truck was going to Mangalore. The front portions of both the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident. The traffic was thrown out of gear for about an hour because of this accident. Reportedly, the vehicle drivers were trying to avoid huge pot holes that dot the highway, resulting in the accident.

Kumble policemen have registered a case.
