Chandigarh National Crafts Mela from November 15


Chandigarh, Nov 13 (IANS): The 11th edition of the Chandigarh National Crafts Mela will kick-off from Friday at Kalagram here, an announcement was made on Wednesday.

All set to take place from November 15 to 24, the fair will showcase diverse handicrafts, handlooms, folk dances and music. Besides, Tribal art groups will be given a platform to display and sell their work.

The event having 200 stalls is being organised by North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala and the Chandigarh administration.

Folk artists and cultural groups will perform live during the 10-day affair. This year the theme is "West to East", featuring handicrafts and foods from Rajasthan, Gujarat to Bihar and Odisha.

The products would vary from clothes to jewellery and footwear to carpets, furniture to home decor.

Celebrities like Gurdas Maan, Daler Mehendi, Kailash Kher, Jasbir Jassi, Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod, Manmohan Waris, Jassie Gill, among others, will perform during the event.
