Kasargod, Aug 19: The firemen, led by DySP Abdul Gafoor and the local youths, worked from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm on Tuesday August 18, to unearth the mystery behind a shining object that gave out light from deep within a household well, located on B T Road, near Bhagavati Gate, Uppala, in the vicinity of Hosangady, here.

The locals residing near the house of Raghavan, had spotted a shining object in an open well that belongs to person named Raghavan, at Bhagavati Gate, Uppala. The mystery of a well giving out light on its own, had spread everywhere since the last two days. Various stories had been making the rounds in the region, about this weird phenomenon. 

The firemen led by DySP Abdul Gafoor and joined by the local youth, who worked through the morning on Tuesday August 18, found an Eveready medium torch beaming a dim light from within the depths of the well water.  The firemen had installed four pumps to drain the water from the open well. They also found a gold-coated idol of the serpent god, in addition to the torch as above.
