Mangaluru, Nov 14: Carmel School, here hosted an inter-school Volleyball Tournament on November 13 at their school grounds.
The guests were received by the school band. The inaugural function was presided over by Sr Maria Shubha AC, secretary, The Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Pradeep Dsouza, deputy director, DK District, Dept of Youth Empowerment and Sports as the chief guest and Raymond Patrao, proprietor, Patrao Steel Centre as the guest of honour.
The programme was compered by Cynthia Renjal and Akshatha proposed the vote of thanks.
Sister Sarika AC, the principal welcomed the gathering.
49 teams from 21schools of Dakshina Kannada participated in the tournament. The closing ceremony was graced by the president, Sr Maria Kripa AC, joint secretary, Carmel School. Vincent Carlo, International Bodybuilder and Powerlifter, was the chief guest along with Claver Dsouza, proprietor, Prince Shamiyana, Kulur and Abdul Latheef, corporator, port ward, Mangaluru as the guests of honour.
Leslie D’Souza, member of the Jury Committee and Lavita D’Souza, member of the school managing committee were present.
The valedictory ceremony was compered by Liffin Saldanha and Arpitha proposed the vote of thanks. Sr Rose Agnes AC, the administrator welcomed the gathering.

Around 600 students participated in the tournament and with the support of the management, parents, friends, officials, staff and students it was a stupendous success.
