Karkala Varado Level Achievers Awards Distributed

Kanajar, August 19: ‘Prathibha Puraskar’, the Karkala Varado level academic achievers awards ceremony, was held at Kanajar Sauharda Bhavan on Sunday August 16.

The day’s programme began with the eucharistic celebration by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha and Fr Pascal Menezes. Soon thereafter, mass breakfast was served to all those present at the Sauharda Bhavan.
 

 

Bishop Isidore Fernandes of Allahabad diocese presided over the function. John D’Silva, chairman, John D’Silva Foundation Mumbai and his wife, Gladys D’Silva, organized the awards ceremony. The D’Silva couple and Ronald Lobo, assistant commisioner of commercial taxes Mangalore, Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, Fr Pascal Menezes, Fr Archibald Correa of Bellary, Fr Archibald D’Silva of Allahabad, Metilda Lasrado, president Karkala Varado, Amit D’Silva and John Martis, president Catholic Sabha Kanajar unit, were the main guests.

Fr Pascal Menezes inaugurated the programme with a prayer, while the girls of Kanajar parish welcomed the audiences through their welcome dance. Metilda Lasrado,  Varado president of Catholic Sabha, welcomed all the guests. The academic achievers from the Varado, who excelled in the SSLC examination, were honoured by John D’Silva and other guests. The rolling shield meant for the best Catholic Sabha unit in the Varado, went to Kanajar parish.

The function was aimed at recognizing and acknowledging the achievements of the students and encouraging them to aim higher and achieve even greater success in the future. Nearly 300 people from Kanajar and Karkala deanery were present at the programme.
