Mangaluru, Nov 15: The valedictory function of the two-day fest of intellect and culture, 'Pre-Unique 2019 - Unique yet United' hosted by St Aloysius PU College was held on November 15 at the pretorium.

Dr Pavan Hegde, HOD of Pediatrics, Father Muller Hospital, was the chief guest and Fr Clifford Sequeira S J, principal of St Aloysius PU College presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Dr Pavan Hegde appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the events. He encouraged the students to actively participate in the college cultural events as these memories will be cherished by them for life. Quoting Martin Luther King, 'Unity has never meant uniformity', he added that Pre-Unique is a platform for students of different sections and cultures to come together and bring out their uniqueness. Dr Hegde concluded by saying, “Being the best is great, because you are number one but being unique is greater because you are the only one.”

Students from about 40 different institutions participated in the mega event that provided students with a wholesome intellectual and cultural experience through a gamut of events and competitions.

‘NIRMAAN’, a Science model making competition cum exhibition and carnival with an array of games and food stalls added charm to the mega event.

The overall championship of Pre-Unique 2019 was bagged by Sharada PU College and Canara PU College won the runner up trophy. The chief guest and the dignitaries gave away the prizes to the winners amidst a plethora of applause and cheer from the audience.

The co-convener, Dulcine Sequeira welcomed the gathering and the convener, Denzil Machado proposed the vote of thanks. Also on the dais were the finance Officer Fr Vinod Paul SJ, vice-principals Muralikrishna GM and Charlotte D’Souza, the staff conveners and the student conveners. Sameeksha Shetty and Vinol compered the closing ceremony.
