Bangalore, Aug 20: The High Court took strong objection to the affidavit filed by the state government relating to the communal clashes that threw normal life out of gear at Kyatamaranahalli in Mysore on July 2 this year.  The division bench of the High Court, comprising of Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice Javed Rahim, took umbrage to the said affidavit, at the hearing conducted on Wednesday August 19. The bench was hearing a habeas corpus petition moved by Noor Jahan and others from Mandi Mohalla Mysore, that members of Popular Front of India were arrested the policemen, the same day after releasing them as per the earlier order of the High Court and then lodged in Belgaum jail.

The bench expressed the opinion that the affidavit appears to be aiming at misleading the course of the case. Before adjourning the hearing to Friday, it ordered the government to produce copies of the orders of the Mysore JMFC court and the tahsildar, relating to the case. It wanted full details like the cases relating to which the persons concerned were arrested, when the cases were registered against them and whether any court had issued arrest warrants against them.

It also ordered the government to file a report consisting of all the information about the steps taken by the district administration, JMFC court and the policemen to control the situation. It also has asked for the physical presence of the police officers from Mysore and the officials of the Belgaum jail during the hearing on Friday, August 21. The High Court also warned that it may be compelled to register contempt of court petition against the policemen concerned, if the explanations are not found to be satisfactory.
