Mumbai, Nov 18: For a third time in a row, the Indian Rupee on Monday strengthened against the US dollar. The fluctuation is the result of the ongoing US-China trade deal.
At 09:08 am, the Rupee traded at 71.63 dollar, up 0.22% versus the Friday's close at 71.79. The currency opened at 71.66 a dollar, touching a high of 71.62 and a low of 71.69.
On November 15, the Rupee fell 50 paise at 71.79 versus the closing at 71.29 on November 8.
Benchmark equity index, Sensex, gained 0.18% or 74.39 points to 40431.08 points in pre-opening trade. Since January, it has gained 12.10%.
Until recently, the Rupee lost 2.60%. As per reports, foreign investors bought USD 11.97 billion and USD 5.2 billion in equity and debt markets.
The Dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, traded at 97.922, down 0.08% from its previous close of 97.999.
