Panaji, Nov 20: Ahead of the inauguration of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2019, Goa Police on Wednesday cautioned Congress’ Goa chief Girish Chodankar against committing cognizable offence.
Congress along with other opposition parties had criticized Union Environment Minister, Prakash Javadekar for exempting Karnataka from Environment Clearance (EC) for a project on Mahadayi river.
Agassaim police on Tuesday issued notice to Chodankar claiming that there is reasonable incredible information that he may involve himself in the commission of a cognizable offence, which will affect the peace and tranquillity at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium on November 20 on the opening ceremony of 50th IFFI.
“You are therefore issued notice following the provision under section 149 of CrPC and you are also directed to desist from getting involved in a cognizable offence and the event of failure on your part, deem fit action will be initiated against you,” the notice reads.
Reacting to the notice, Chodankar said that he will continue doing his duty to protect the Mahadayi river.
“Thank U @goacm @DrPramodPSawant for your last minute invite. I will enjoy your hospitality while doing my duty of protecting Mother Mhadei, when U and traitor @PrakashJavadekar with @BJP4Goa Bhakts will be busy enjoying international fraud festival of India @IFFIGoa @INCGoa,” he tweeted.
