Dehradun, Aug 23 (IANS) A member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was shot dead allegedly by his rival inside an Uttarakhand police station, an official said Sunday.
Kala Dungi block president Balwant Singh Kaniyal, who is also accused in a murder case, had a fight Saturday evening with the accused. The official did not name the accused.
The two were called to the police station for questioning after a tiff between them.
The men started fighting again when the police official left the room. The accused took out his pistol and shot Kaniyal from a close range, the official said.
The BJP leader died on the spot and the accused has been arrested, he said.
