New Delhi: Jinnah Was Secular at One Time: Former RSS Chief

NDTV

New Delhi, Aug 25: As the Jinnah controversy continues to haunt the BJP and the Sangh Parivar, there is more from the saffron quarters. Former RSS chief K S Sudarshan, on being asked whether Jinnah was secular, said Jinnah had many facets and at one time was totally committed to the nation.

"Jinnah had many facets. If you read history then you will come to know that Jinnah was with Lok Manya Tilak and was totally dedicated to the nation. And when Gandhi started the Khilafat movement, with the idea that currently we are opposing the British and if Muslims join in then their support will help gain independence. But at that time Jinnah opposed it saying that if the Caliph in Turkey has been dethroned what has India got to do with it. That time nobody listened to him, which saddened him. So he quit the Congress and left for England and only returned in 1927," said Sudarshan.

Sudarshan's observation comes amid the flurry of Jaswant Singh being thrown out of the BJP for his praise for Jinnah.

Party head LK Advani too had courted controversy earlier by talking about Jinnah in positive terms.

The BJP in its current avatar has no absolutely future with a retired old man hanging on to his post and shamelessly day dreaming along with his cronies. While Rajnath Singh is a figure head and completely incompetent it was Advani who first raised the issue of his true love for Jinnah and Pakistan!

Mr. Humpty-Dumpty has now told the media that BJP will emerge stronger, sadly it will be completely destroyed much before the next elections. Obviously the Cong-I is enjoying the decimation of the opposition by a gang of senile, retired so called saffron leaders! It is a crucial cornerstone and sad tragedy in Indian politics.

In one of the books written by Lord Mountbatten, he had indicated the cause of Indo-Pakistan division. Mahatma Gandhi was highly interested to put Pandit Nehru as the P M of India, but Mr. Jinnah wanted that job so badly. So, as a solution to this trcky problems, India was divided. This is a bygone history, and this mysterious event is causing more friction now.

RASHEED, BHATKAL/DUBAI. Your statement is absurd and non sense. Read Jinnah and his back ground more and you will know more about him. He was even rejected in Pakistan after he became PM there and also he has dubbed many of his leaders from Sind land. Nehru was more polished and mature leader and acceptable to all.

1971 war with Pakistan, India could have recaptured half of present Pakistan into its land as Akand Bharath. But that time our Country was very poor. One more incident such as 1971 will torn apart Jinnah completely and Pakistan. Jai Hind.

Though we live in present, One should not forget the history. Jinnah was a fundamental secular leader when he was in National congress. It is the extremist leaders in Muslim League who instigated the idea of a separate nation in Jinnah. Its not correct to blame Gandhi or Nehru when there was a compulsive demand from Muslim League for this cause from day one. That''s time Jinnah joined Muslim League...and that is the fact.

Why you blame Gandhiji and nehru" ? Gandhi is the one who stood by his decision till the last end not to divide India. but circumstances during that time made gandhiji to accept the decision of dividing india. Don''t balme these people just because they were from Congress.

The Sangh parivar is in total confusion whether to follow secularism or Hindutva after the recent poll debacle.Hence present chaos in the organisation. While they speak in two voices they alienate people further.Well you do not have clear identity Sangh parivar hence you will continue to be rejected by the majority of Indians.

What is wrong with difference in opinion. Jinnah and his deeds are a closed chapter. Why use it for political gain or shame. That was our history. We cannot run away from it.
