New Delhi, Aug 25: India has invited Canadian oil companies to take part in the latest round of auction of hydrocarbon assets.

At a roadshow in Calgary, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Jitin Prasada invited exploration and production companies and prospective investors to avail of the highly attractive investment opportunities.

The latest round includes 70 exploration oil and gas blocks and 10 coalbed methane blocks open for competitive bidding, Prasada said.

This is the third roadshow organised by India, the first two being held in Mumbai and Houston.

Ninety-four delegates from more than 50 companies, such as Canoro Resources, Alberta Oilsands, Pengrowth, Husky Energy and Niko Resources, participated in the roadshow.

More roadshows will be held in London, Perth and Brisbane next month. The bid closes Oct 12.
