Mangaluru: St Aloysius Institute Beeri hosts conference on 'Advanced IT, Engineering And Management'

Mangaluru, Nov 23: School of Information Technology, AIMIT (St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information – Technology), St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Beeri, here, on November 21 and 22 organized the seventh edition of SACAIM-2019 a two-day international conference on 'Advanced IT, Engineering and Management'. This conference provides a platform to bring together leading academicians, researchers, engineers and scientists in the domain of data-intensive fields across the country.

The programme was inaugurated on November 21 at the Arthur Shenoi auditorium.

The event began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song led by the college choir.



C G Thomas, faculty, IT department, AIMIT presented a video of messages from professors of various universities around the world. Dr Sanjeev Rai, head of Research Initiatives, Fr Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, Dr Chandrashekhar Shetty, research coordinator St Aloysius College, Dr Fr Praveen Martis SJ, principal, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director of AIMIT, professor Santhosh Rebello, dean of Information Technology, Dr Ruban convenor SACAIM-2019 and Srinivas B L, organizing secretary of SACAIM-2019 formally inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp.

Professor Santhosh Rebello welcomed the gathering and in his opening remarks spoke about how artificial intelligence has taken over our everyday lives and made it easier.

Srinivas B L gave a brief introduction to the chief guest. The chief guest, Dr Sanjeev Rai in his inaugural address spoke on the advancements in the field of medicine with the help of emerging technologies. He also mentioned about the role of data analytics in recognizing the symptoms and identifying diseases. He also said that technology is a double-edged sword and we need to use it for the betterment of society.

Rakesh Kumar, faculty IT department, AIMIT gave a brief introduction of the guest of honour. Dr Chandrashekar Shetty, the guest of honour encouraged the students to take up research projects and enrol themselves for summer fellowship programmes. Fr Praveen Martis SJ delivered the presidential address. He stressed on the importance of putting in effort to achieve greater heights.

Fr Denzil Lobo SJ encouraged the students to keep learning and involve themselves in research work quoting that there is no upper limit for knowledge. He said that the students need to have an open mind that is receptive to change and think creatively.

The chief guest along with other dignitaries on the dais released the preceding of SACAIM-2019.

Dr Ruban proposed the vote of thanks. Lidia Cletus took over as the master of the ceremony. The event was flagged off by the inaugural and continued through November 22 with seven parallel tracks running to process 131 research papers from academic institutions spread across the globe. In the valedictory function Dr B Unnikrishnan associate dean, KMC, Mangaluru was chief guest; Dr Kalidas Shetty, North Dakota State University, USA was the guest of honour. Fr Denzil Lobo SJ presided over the function.
