Mangalore: T Y Prabhu Elevated as CMD of Oriental Bank of Commerce

Mangalore, Aug 28: T Y Prabhu, a native of  Uppinangady in Dakshina Kannada district, has taken over charge as the chairman and managing director (CMD) of the public sector Oriental Bank of Commerce.

Prabhu had earlier served Canara Bank and had functioned in various departments like Regional Rural Bank and in the sister concern of Canara Bank at Hong Kong. Prabhu is commerce and law graduate, besides being a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers here.

From June 6, 2007 onwards, he had functioned as the executive director of Union Bank of India till his elevation to the present post. Prabhu had joined Canara Bank in the year 1970, and has rich experience of about 39 years in the banking field. He had worked as the general manager of Canara Bank's New Delhi circle office, before taking over as the executive director of Union Bank of India.
