Mangaluru: Talented students of Kanachur Public School showcase exquisite art & craft exhibits

Mangaluru, Nov 28: Kanachur Public School on November 27 wore an exquisite look and was adorned with beautiful art & craft exhibits by the students from nursery to class VIII with each class working on a different theme.

The exhibition showcased the efforts of students from different age groups. It allowed the growing young artists to display their creative talents and to develop a humane outlook. Pupils' handicraft skills were displayed in the form of handbags, folders and coloured pots and the stupendous collage work stunned
everyone around. The exhibition had an array of art and craft items ranging from expressive pottery, thalli decoration, candle and doll making, miniature to many more eye-catching exhibits.

Chief guest, N S Pattar, guest of honour, Prof Dr M Abdul Rahiman, chairman U K Monu, correspondent Abdul Rahiman, trustees- Zohara Monu, Umayya Banu, Farida Banu, Dr Abida and Shahada Rahiman, parents and visitors were present.

In his address, Prof Dr M Abdul Rahiman mentioned that art is an inherent, present in everyone and this quality should be brought out by the art teachers.

N S Pattar said art5 is not just colours and lines, but is a form of expression. He expressed his happiness over the art and craft displayed by the students. The art and craft teacher, Chandrika, who won the Ujjain Kalavart National award for her two paintings which were selected for Coimbatore National Exhibition is currently teaching at Kanachur Public School.

The children are trained to shed all sectarian outlooks and be proud of being Indians. The art displayed was pencil shading, pen art, acrylic, emboss, coffee, glass, cloth, stone, pebble art, sand, nib, spatula, miniature, glass, pot, abstract, thread and canvas board painting. There were different types of crafts like fashion illustration, mixed media of button art, gift bag craft, fairy house, miniature garden, newspaper recycle, bottle craft, types of baskets.

The effort of the school is to create an environment where noble thoughts emerge from every side to help the young ones live in peace with the environment and with the world around. A child is allowed to develop freely in a harmonious environment.
