Shuttler Sourabh loses in final of Syed Modi tourney


Lucknow, Dec 1 (IANS): Sourabh Verma lost in the final of the Syed Modi International badminton tournament after going down in straight games against Chinese Taipei's Wang Tzu Wei here on Sunday.

The 26-year-old went down 15-21, 17-21 to Tzu Wei in less than an hour to miss out on his maiden Super 300 crown.

It was neck and neck in the first game as Sourabh and Tzu Wei were locked 8-8 before the latter took a slender 11-10 lead at the break.

The Taiwanese shuttler bossed the proceedings after the interval and opened up a 18-13 lead before pocketing the first game.

In the second game, Sourabh struggled with the length and lagged 0-5 at the start.

Sourabh fought back and the score was 13-13 before his more experienced rival took control and sealed the issue.
