Puttur, Aug 31: In an incident that occurred on Sunday August 30 night, a lorry carrying gas cylinders hit an autorickshaw and Omni van parked on the roadside in turn completely damaging the vehicles. However, a huge catastrophe was averted as neither the auto not the van had drivers or passengers in it.
It is learnt that the driver of the lorry coming from Darbe was overspeeding and due to his negligence hit an auto and van parked in front of Laxmi Medicals near the curve in front of Aruna Theatre in the town here. While the auto belongs to one Krishnappa Poojary, the van belongs to Congress leader Satish Naik.
Town police have arrested the lorry driver and registered a case.
