Bangalore: Basant Seth takes Charge as Syndicate Bank CMD

Bangalore, Sep 1: Basant Seth took over charge as the new chairman and managing director (CMD) of public sector Syndicate Bank on Monday August 31. He has been appointed to the post till February 29, 2012.

Seth took over charge of the Bank at its corporate office here. He holds degree in chartered accountancy besides diploma in bank management. He has rich experience in various departments like corporate finance, accounting, corporate and taxation law, audit, treasury management, risk management, corporate governance, advances and resource mobilization.

After working as the general manager of Bank of India in overseas branches and administrative offices, he had served Small Scale Industrial Development Bank of India as its deputy managing director. He has functioned as a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standard Board of Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the International Financial Reporting Standard. He had also served in the Bankers Association's taxation committee.
