Abu Dhabi Konkani Community to Celebrate Feast of Nativity on Sept. 10th

Abu Dhabi – Sep. 02:  Konkani Speaking Community in Abu Dhabi will be celebrating the Feast of Nativity (Monthi Fest) at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on Thursday, 10 September 2009.

The evening’s outdoor ceremony will commence at 07:45 p.m. with blessing of the new harvest and offering of Flowers to Mother Mary by children followed by procession and Solemn Holy Mass.

The traditional festival which is popular and has been in practice on the Konkan belt will bring back the memories of annual family Reunion practiced since ages.

The festival is of utmost importance to the devotees to show their love and respect to Mother Mary.

The celebration was initiated in Abu Dhabi by Konkani Cultural Organization (K.C.O.) – the  premier organization in Abu Dhabi, several years ago and has been continuing year by year since then.

Speaking to Daijiworld in Abu Dhabi, KCO President Leo Rodrigues, requested Konkani speaking people to participate along with their children in this great festival to show their love and devotion towards Mother Mary, which is one of the most significant events of the year.

    Harvest Feast brings back to memories of Muscat, the way the Konkani community would hold celebrations before the Mass, with lovely flower petals given to the faithful to be sprinkled at the feet of Our Lady at the grotto, followed by candle light procession, the evening was attended by the faithful from all communities that were from Ruwi parish, Muscat.All the very best to Mr. Leo the President of the community and sure under him all will go on at the best, my wishes to all of you on this great Feast of our Lady.
