M'lore: Outstanding Institutions, Teachers and Students Honoured by CBE at Teacher's Day Celebration

Mangalore, Sep 3: The Catholic Board of Education honoured retired teachers, institutions that secured highest percentage of result and students securing highest marks, as part of the Teacher’s Day celebrations at Shanthi Kiran, Bajjodi here on Thursday, September 3.
The felicitation function was presided by Bishop of Mangalore diocese, Aloysius Paul D’ Souza. Prof T H Eranna, joint director of collegiate education and C Chame Gowda, deputy director of public education, participated as chief guests.
Retired teachers Sr Patrina, Sr Hilda D’Souza, Robert Olivera, Felci M D’silva, Sr M Eugine D’ Souza, Veronica D’Souza from the primary school section and K Shrihari Bhat from the pre-university section apart from Gregory Carvalho, non-teaching staff, were felicitated on this occasion.
District Teachers Award winners for year 2009-10, Devadas Hegde, head master from St Ignatius Higher primary school, Paladka, K Shrinivas, teacher from Mai De Deus higher primary school, Puttur, Aloysius D’Souza, head master from Rosario High School, Mangalore and M S Purushottam, drawing teacher from St Philomena High school, Puttur were also honoured.
Students securing highest marks in SSLC exams, Meghana R Upadhyaya from Nirmala English medium school Brahmavar, Raynol D Souza from St Aloysius English medium school, Urva, Akhila Jain from Anugraha English Medium School Ujire, Prajwal from St Joseph’s English medium school Modankap, Anisha from St Victor Girls high school Puttur, Manjunath S Dolpe from St Sebastian Kannada Medium school Permannur, Preema Mascarenus from St Philomina High School Puttur and Rakshitha P Shetty from St Mary’s high school, Kundapura too were honoured.
Julius Gonsalves from Sacred Heart P U College Madantyar, Soumya from St John’s P U college Shakarpura, Aswini P from St Philomena P U college, Puttur from Pre-university section and Shrilatha Acharya, a student of Sr Mary’s College Shirva, Sr Flaveen Fernades from Pompei College, Aikala, Aishwarya S K from St Philomena College Puttur and ninth rank holder in BA, Linet Preema Saldanha from St Marry’s College Shirva were the students who were felicitated.
Heads of institutions, St Josephs high school Belman, Pejavara high school Kalavar, Infant Jesus English Medium School Modankap, St Joseph’s English medium school Kulshekar, St Thomas English Medium School Alangar, Secred Heart English Medium School Madantyar, Holy Family English Medium School Suratkal, St Mary’s English Medium School Udupi, St Francis English Medium School Mudarangadi, Lourdes Central School, Bejai, St Marys High School Bela were honoured for securing highest percentage in SSLC exams and St Joseph’s P U College, Bajpe and Padua P U College, Mangalore for securing Highest percentage of result in PUC exams.
Fr Wilson V D’Souza, secretary of Catholic Board of Education, welcomed. Irene Sequeira, a teacher from Calvary School compeered the programme and George D Souza, St John’s Primary School Cascia in the city proposed vote of thanks.
