Iran foiled very big organized cyber attack: Minister

Tehran, Dec 12 (IANS): Iran had recently foiled a major "organized" cyber attack against the countrys e-government infrastructure, a Minister said here.

Speaking on the sidelines of a weekly cabinet session on Wednesday, Information Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi described the cyber attack as "very big", reports Press TV.

He added that the attack targeting the country's "e-government infrastructure" was identified and thwarted by the country's "security shield".

The Minister said he could not give any further details for the time being, adding that work was underway to extract different dimensions of the attack.

In June, Jahromi had reported an unsuccessful American cyber attack against the country's missile control system.

In October, Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization which is in charge of cyber security, said the country was taking robust security measures to protect its vital infrastructure in the face of cyber attacks.
