Mangalore: Monthi Fest at Bendur Church
Mangalore, Sep 8: The parishioners of Bendur church wholeheartedly took part in the Monthi Fest celebrations today.
The procession started from Bikarnakatte Bajjodi in the city. The long line of the faithful with blessed corns in hand, proceeded through the decorated city streets to Bendur church. Children with flowers with them, accompanied the procession.
Upon reaching Bendur church, the children offered flowers to the grotto of Mother Mary. The devotees then proceeded to the church hall, where they took part in the holy mass.

Referring to my earlier comments, sorry there was the band which I missed. I apologize for that!
First of all, a Happy Feast of Nativity of our Blessed Lady, to you all Rev. Fathers of Bendore Parish and the Parishioners. Going through the subject article, it brought back so many divine and sweet memories. Only the thing that has changed now from the old times is that there is a band playing nowadays in the solemn procession which I observed in quite a few of the other Parishes that celebrated the Feast (thanks again to the Daijiworld for the coverage), though I did not find it at Bendore.
Going through the photographs that accompanied (courtesy to Dayananda Kukkaje) I am thrilled to find my old high school/colleage buddy and friend at St. Aloysius, Tony Mascarenhas, the retired Headmaster, (in the 7th photograph right in front of the procession with grey moustace and receding hair, wearing a full sleeve, light blue shirt - hi Tony!)I am so glad that the Feast of Nativity is still being celebrated with showering of flowers by children and the alter boys/girls specially, on such a grand and pompous manner. Thanks Daijiworld for the beautiful coverage.
