Bangalore, Sep 8: Outgoing Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) chief executive S. Ramadorai has been appointed chairman of Tata Elxsi Ltd with immediate effect, the tech firm of the Tata group said in a regulatory filing Monday.

Ramadorai replaces Syamal Gupta, who stepped down in pursuant to the Tata group retirement policy. Company director Sujit Gupta also quit the board due to ill health, the listed firm said after its annual general board meeting here.

Ramadorai, who retires from TCS Oct 5 on super-annuation, will continue to be associated with the global software major as non-executive vice-chairman and additional director on its board, the IT bellwether said in a statement here.
