Moodbidri, Sep 8: Monti Fest was celebrated at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church, Alangar, today morning. Fr Vincent D'Souza blessed the corn at the entrance to the church, after which the children showered flowers at the grotto of Mother Mary.

In his sermon, parish priest Vincent D'Souza (Sr) stressed on the importance of practising the habit of offering prayers by the family members together. He said that the feast is a symbol of love and fellowship and therefore, it needs to be celebrated together. "Mother Mary wants the individuals to convert their lives into a holistic one. This year, the Lord has showered his blessings on the people through good rains. We need to thank Him for His blessings," he added.

Fr Mathew assisted the parish priest in the holy mass. Soon after the mass, sugarcane and sweets were distributed.
