Bengaluru, Dec 14: In an incident that has come to light in the city, a Moulavi allegedly lured a woman to the city with promise of job, raped her in his wife's absence, and inflicted burn injuries on her entire body with a heated iron box.

This has happened in the city at a time when rape incidents are coming to light and organizations have been fighting to see that women are safe across the country.

The incident happened in Koramangala.

The accused, identified as Farvez, has been running tutorials and madrassa. He has been arrested by the police for raping and torturing the 26-year-old woman.

Farvez had brought this lady here from Bihar for household work about four years ago. His wife works in a software company. As per reports, Farvez used to never let the maid go out of his house. Once his wife left for office, he used to torture and rape the lady.

Farvez has been charged with illegal confinement, rape, murder attempt, using abusive language, posing death threat etc under different sections of Indian Penal Code. A case against him has been registered in Koramangala police station.
