Ras Al Khaimah, Dec 14: The 'Haunted Palace' of Ras Al Khaimah is now open to the public, considered to be one of the most mysterious buildings in the northern emirates it has been abandoned for years.
Built by the late Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Qasimi in 1985, the palace was meant to be a stunning architectural wonder. But it made a name for being haunted.
It took 10 years for the four-floor structure, constructed on a highland at Al Dheit area, to be completed and an attempt to turn it into an institute came to a standstill.
The palace consists of 35 rooms mostly decorated with Islamic, Moroccan, Indian and Persian designs.
The palace has many glass chandeliers, specially imported from Belgium and France. The marble paths, statues, and stuffed animals add to the beauty and mystery of the palace.
The palace doors are open to visitors from 9 am to 7 pm. The fee is Dh75 for each individual and Dh50 per person in a group.
