Mangaluru: Police arrest three for cow theft at Konaje

Mangaluru, Dec 17: It is reported that at Konaje police station that cows worth Rs 1.4 lac were stolen by thieves in the wee hours. Accordingly, the police officers and personnel were on the search of the said culprits and also to recover the stolen cows.

Acting on definite information, it was known that the accused in the cow theft case were roaming in a Maruti Omni van at Eliyar Padavu of Amblamogaru village. The search team of police immediately reported to the spot and waylaid the Omni car, which tried to escape as the inmates of the car saw the police vehicle, and inquired about the incident with the occupants of the car.

Police have arrested Shafi alias Kalandar Shafi (28), resident of Neeralike Mane, Gantalakatte, Moodbidri in Mangaluru taluk, Sadiq alias Mohammed Sadiq (30), resident of Dabbeli Lachil Mane, Mangaluru taluk and Asif alias Mohammed Kalandar (23), resident of near Vidyanagar Katte, Naringana village of Bantwal taluk. According to the statement given by the arrested, police have confiscated the stolen cows and also the vehicle used in the act. The total value of the confiscated goods is said to be Rs 2.10 lac. Search is one for the other accused, who were involved in this crime.

This operation was carried out under the direction of city police commissioner Dr P S Harsha and was guided by Arunamshu Giri, DCP, law and order and Laxmi Ganesh, DCP, crime and traffic. ACP Kodandaram of south sub-division led the operation with Konaje police inspector Ravi Naik, ASI Yogishwaran, probationary PSI Sharanappa Bhandary, probation PSI Shivakumar, head constable Jagannath, PCs Ashok Kumar, Nagaraj, Vijay Kumar, Chandrakant, Raju Harnal, Manjunath and personnel of the anti-rowdy squad of south sub-division.

    1. Why are the cows left to roam around without anyone monitoring it? Do the owners not want it?
    2. Sometimes these cows are the bread earners for the entire family. How do these criminals still have the audacity to steal?

    Now again the 03 guys caught for smuggling cow is from the peaceful tolerant secular community of India, why dont they smuggle pork when a law exist in india why these peaceful tolerant and secular people break the law.

    They can smuggle if these secular people promise that they are ready to eat pork then I will support these so called seculars. When your religion is big for you the same is also for the majority community, live and let live.
