Twitterati divided as Shardul replaces Shivam in ODI against WI

Visakhapatnam, Dec 18 (IANS): As bowler Shardul Thakur replaced all-rounder Shivam Dube in West Indies versus India ODI here on Wednesday, cricket fans seemed to be divided on the issue.

#ShardulThakur trended on the social media platform as many users vent their displeasure over the move.

One user wrote: "Huge setback for Shivam Dube early in his career as he has been replaced by Shardul Thakur in the Playing XI. #INDvWI"

One fan however agreed with the change: Did the right thing. Doesn't deserve a place in ODI."

Another asked: "Shardul does?"

One user remarked: "If Shardul Thakur is considered a seamer, then surely (Virat) Kohli should consider himself one too."

One angry cricket fan wrote: "Shardul Thakur picked ahead of Saini in the squad is itself a disgrace. Now he gets picked in Playing XI. Don't know when this Mumbai lobbying will stop. Give chances to players who deserve. BCCI is a corrupt organisation. High time Ganguly change the selection panel members."

One user commented: "Shardul Thakur in; wow! Is he a Bumrah? Kohli should have played Yuzvendra Chahal who can bowl during power play. At least Khaleed Ahmed will pick wickets; good to see Kohli under pressure in this series. It was a cakewalk win for him with Bumrah #INDvsWI."

One fan posted a meme showing a scene from 'Welcome' movie and captioned it: Don't be afraid. I only look dangerous."
