Anti-CAA stir: Despite pleas, protests at Red Fort continue


New Delhi, 19 Dec (IANS): Despite pleas from the police, anti-CAA protesters gathered near the Red Fort area of the capital, refusing to vacate the place.

Earlier, the police had detained around 120 protesters and transported them away in buses.

Those detained included, socio-political activist Yogendra Yadav who was held at Alipur area.

With Section 144 imposed in the area, protesters sat down on the Nishadraj Marg street near the DCP Crime Branch office.

Earlier, the protesters had agreed to leave the scene if they were allowed to talk telephonically with their detained leaders. But even after the police fulfilled the demand, some protesters refused to leave.

The Red Fort is one of the prominent spots in Delhi to be chosen for Thursday's anti-CAA protests.
