Puttur: Efforts to get Imprisoned Suleiman Released - Minister Writes to Embassy

Puttur, Sep 11: The union minister for overseas Indian affairs, Vayalar Ravi, has written to the Indian embassy in Riyadh, to initiate suitable  steps to secure the release of Suleiman Abubakker, truck driver from Nellyadi, who has been jailed in Saudi Arabia.

In the letter, the minister, in addition to asking the embassy to follow up the matter, has also asked it to report the steps so initiated and progress thereon, from time to time. The minister has informed in the letter, that the request is in tune with a petition submitted by Suleiman's wife, explaining the travails the family is going through, after Suleiman was jailed in that country. This information was given by Ravi's personal secretary, Ismail, who is from Karnataka.
