Puttur: Three dead as truck laden with iron pipes topples over car at Shiradi Ghat

Puttur, Dec 20: In a tragic incident, three persons died in an accident at Parvarakotya near Uppinangady along Shiradi Ghat here on Friday December 20 evening.

The deceased have been identified as Narayana (65), Neetu (35) and Nidhi (15), all residents of Mandya.

The accident occured when the trailer truck together with the large iron pipes that it was carrying toppled over a car.

There were altogether five occupants in the car. Two of them were injured and admitted to hospital.

The trailer truck was transporting iron pipes from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. On reaching Parvarakotya, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and as a result, both the truck as well as  the pipes toppled and crushed the car that was near it, it is learnt.

The locals gathered at the spot and helped in removing the injured and the deceased out of the car.

The bodies have been shifted to Puttur government hospital. 

Uppinangady police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
