CAA is not a Mangalore specific issue and every Indian has right to protest at any part of the country. By no means, I justify the protest done by the Binoy Viswam particularly when emotions are running high and common sense has taken backseat.

"Our Mangalore" emotion exhibited by the readers is highly appreciable, but wish the same spirit is displayed in day-to-day living. Today Mangaloreans is divided on religious / caste lines into Bunts, Konkanis, Catholics, Muslims, etc.etc etc.... by political parties / outfits who wants to reap political advantage by sowing the poisonous seeds of religion. Religion should be within the four walls of one's home and once on to the public domain, one should be an Indian, Kannadiga or atleast Mangalorean (as broader as possible).

As far as Kerala is concerned, this is the state to embrace all religions are religious pluralism is at its best. People do fight, crimes do happen, but not on religious lines, but political lines. But there are few who only try to highlight the religion of the people involved, but till now it did not work out in Kerala. That is why even when people were against the attitude of State Government on Sabarimala, it did not turn out as votes for BJP despite their best efforts.

As far as CAA is concerned, why should we look at the religion of the immigrants when we are saying that we should be Indian first and then a Hindu / Christian / Muslim / Buddhist / Jain. let us not look at the religion of the immigrant and send back every Pakistani / Bangladeshi / Burmese etc.... to their own countries. Why should we bothered about their minority / majority status in that country who have stayed back in that country during Independence for their own selfish interests.

Hope better sense prevails on everyone and peace returns to Mangalore. Happy Christmas.

Mangalore is filled with Keralites. All the business establishments/shops owned by Keralites. Soon Kerala will demand Mangalore to be a part of Kerala. What a joke? Kerala MP in Karnataka is asking Karnataka CM to go back from Mangalore.

I am at loss to understand that why Keralites are coming to Mangaluru to protest. What rights they got to do in Mangaluru's internal problems.Let them solve their own problems first.Police have done the right thing by arresting them. They should be meted a harsh punishment and put them for life long prison.Don't allow them or release them lightly
