New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the tenure of Bijay Kumar, as Deputy Managing Director on the Board of IL&FS Ltd, for a period of one year with effect from December 21, 2019, an IL&FS statement said on Tuesday.

Kumar was appointed as Director on the Board of IL&FS by the Centre from December 21, 2018 and took over as Deputy Managing Director of the company from December 24, 2018 for a period of one year.

An IAS officer of the 1986 Batch, Kumar retired as Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture, ADF and Marketing), Government of Maharashtra, in 2018. Previously, he has also worked as Principal Secretary (Finance) in the Government of Maharashtra and held various other posts in his career spanning over three decades.

Prior to being the member of the Indian Administrative Service in 1986, Kumar served as a member of the IPS (Punjab Cadre) 1985 batch.

In October last year, the government had removed the sitting board members and installed a new board headed by Uday Kotak after the group defaulted on its loans.
