Mangaluru: Digittal – 2019 international conference held at NITK Surathkal

Mangaluru, Dec 26: Pro-Chancellor NITTE University, Dr M Shantharam Shetty on Thursday December 26 inaugurated a three-day international conference on Digital Technologies and Transformation in Academic Libraries (Digittal – 2019) here, organized by Central Library NITK at NITK Surathkal.

Addressing the gathering, Dr M Shantharam Shetty said, “It is a privilege to take part in the three-day international conference on Digital Technologies and transformation in Academic Libraries. Earlier, there were times where we needed to visit a library, take the book and note down everything. Now, things have changed because of digitization and within a second one can get whatever is needed. The world has changed from what it was, change is the necessity of life. If you do not change, then the world will change you. NITK has invited a galaxy of librarians to the conference to impart information about Digital Technologies and Transformation in Academic Libraries as well as to understand the importance of library."



Conference chairperson, Prof Lakshman Nandagiri welcomed the gathering and Prof Subramanya from Applied Mechanics department compered the programme.

Programme manager UNESCO Paris, Dr Bhanu Neupane, chairperson, Board of Governor NITK Surathkal, Prof K Balaveera Reddy, director NITK, Prof K Umamaheshwar Rao and organizing secretary of the conference, Dr Mallikarjuna Angadi and others were present.
