CGST unearths Rs 241 crore GST fraud


New Delhi, Dec 26 (IANS): The anti-evasion wing of the Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST), Delhi South Commissionerate, has unearthed a Rs 241 crore goods and services tax (GST) evasion through fake invoicing, according to an official statement here on Thursday.

Over 120 entities involved in Rs 1,600 crore transactions through fake invoicing have been identified.

The CGST wing also busted "a well-organised racket of creating bogus firms, issuing fake invoices and bogus e-way bills to generate and encash tax credits."

The investigators claimed to have seized electronic evidences from premises of the accused, who has been remanded to 10-day judicial custody.
