Mangaluru: Eminent personalities to grace St Agnes College centennial celebration on Jan 10

Mangaluru, Dec 28: 'Knowledge Factory' is the first of the many programmes that St Agnes College has envisaged to celeberate its centenary with the community. It is a day-long programme, from 9.30 am. to 5.30 pm, which will be held on January 10, 2020. The Promise Foundation and NIITI Consulting, Delhi are collaborating with the college to put up this highly appreciated programme that has been held in the past years in metropolitan cities.

Learning takes place not only in classrooms, but through every walk of life. The best lessons are given by life itself. India houses many such renowned personages whose life’s lesson is sure to enthuse the community of Mangaluru and especially to motivate the students.

The speakers of the day are internationally renowned people from all walks of life, namely, from the film industry- Lisa Rani Ray, Indian Canadian actor, author, philanthropist and social activist; Sunil Butch, director, Live Nation; former CEO, Zee Entertainment; Deepanitha Sharma, actor, supermodel and entrepreneur; Kriti Tule, co-founder and creative director, Doodlage, Nandini Srikar, singer and composer; and Prakash Belavadi, movie and theatre actor, who, along with Vasanthii Hariprakash, Radio TV journalist and founder, Pickle Jar, would speak on Shivarama Karantha.

The second category is of the women who dared to venture into successful, innovative and mainly social enterprises like Swathi Pande, co-founder and CEO, Arboreal; Anuradha Kedia, co-founder, The Better India; and Gaurav Yadav, founder and CEO, EduAce Services and a well-known quiz master too. From the sports arena is the beautiful sportswoman, Heena Sidhu, who is the world number 1 pistol shooter.

The programme will be anchored by celebrity news anchor, Rini Simon Khanna.

Through this programme, the college presents to the community of DK, motivational words of the people who shine today in spite of all the odds faced by them. What better lessons can be learnt, if not from the mouths of these stalwarts?

Also, the programme holds the attraction of a quiz on History by the renowned quiz master Gaurav Yaday. Quite a few have shown interest in participating in the same. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the runner up Rs 20,000. Two make a team, without restrictions of age or category.

Two kinds of passes will be issued for the programme: Rs 200 for students and Rs 500 for others. An opportunity for the participants to dine and interact with the celebrities will be another attraction of the day. There will also be a lucky draw on each category of passes with electronic gadgets worth Rs 25,000 each as prizes.

It is desirable that the communities of Mangaluru and its neighbourhood come, participate and benefit from this unique programme that is conducted for the first time in Mangaluru. The public is invited to celebrate the founding of an institution which empowered thousands of women at a time when higher education for women was considered a myth.
