Mangalore: Youth Cong Protests against State’s Anti-people Administration

Mangalore, Sep 18: District Youth Congress Committee staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office on Thursday September 17 against anti-people administration of BJP state government mired with fake assurances and corruption. The protesters urged the Governor of the state to give proper suggestions to take up pro-people ruling with several development programmes.
Addressing the protestors, Arun Coelho, president, Youth Congress Committee said that the state government had only doled out promises and fulfilled none. Chief Minister B S Yedyurappa and other ministers are full of empty promises. The protestors demanded the state government to step down or undertake ruling by consulting the opposition as well as the experts who support positive development of the state.
He added that the arecanut growers were at the receiving end due to diseases plaguing the arecanut trees. Yet the assurance of providing support price for arecanut is pending despite fall in its price. He also pointed out about the rapid commercialization of government Wenlock hospital and pathetic state of roads including state highways.
The protestors also showed their ire on inept handling of diseases such as swine flu, dengue and such without bringing in any concrete measures to stop its widespread. The government has also not fulfilled assurance of sanctioning a police commissionerate in city by August 15, they added.
Congress leaders Naveen D’Souza, Ivan D’Souza, Harikrishna Bantwal and Mahabala Marla among others were present.
