Udupi, Dec 30: Nirmala English Medium School Brahmavar recently celebrated Christmas along with the birthday of the school's correspondent, Fr Victor Fernandes. Christmas carols and star-making competition for inter groups were also held.
To set a perfect example of secularism, the school celebrates all the festivals. The celebration which took place in the school hall was decorated like a bride by the students. The symbol of Christmas, the Christmas crib was prepared.
The programme started with prayers to the Almighty. Everybody prayed for permanent existence of love and peace in this violent-torn world. Akshaya welcomed the gathering as a chief guest, the correspondent Fr Victor Fernandes, vice-principal Irene Pereira Sr Maxima from Karunalaya were present.
The Christmas crib was blessed by the correspondent. The Christmas message was delivered by Nandika of class 7 on the importance of the Christmas celebration. The joy of this event was the dance performed by the students who welcomed Jesus into their hearts. Later on inter-group carol singing competitions were held. Students from all groups showcased their talents and hard work with pride which was appreciated.
The birthday of Fr Victor Fernandes was celebrated. Birthday is an important momentous occasion offering time to reflect and giving thanks to God. The students of class 10 and primary students performed a small action play and brought glory to the celebration. As a token of love, a bouquet was presented by the students and gifts were presented to the staff. The chief guest correspondent in his speech explained to the students the importance of Christmas saying that love and peace on earth should be spread.
Students from different classes with heart and soul fulls presented a beautiful tableau, which was greatly appreciated. The programme was anchored by Akshya.
Later, all the staff members exchanged gifts with their Christmas friends as secret Santa Claus and greeted one another. Christmas cake and ice-cream were distributed to all the students.
