Huawei shipped 12mn Mate 30 series phones worldwide: Report

Beijing, Dec 31 (IANS): About a month ago Huawei passed the 7 million sales mark with its Mate 30 lineup and now a new report claims that that the figure has grown to 12 million units world wide.

Richard Yu, the head of the company's consumer unit earlier said that global shipments of the series exceeded 7 million phones during its first 60 days. And shipments picked up speed in November with more than 5 million units delivered that month due to the launch of the 5G version of the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.

Company's goal with the Mate 30 lineup is to top the 20 million shipments mark which seems like an attainable goal, news portal GSMArena reported on Monday.

The numbers are quite impressive, despite limited availability of the handsets outside of China and their lack of Google Mobile Services.

Mate 30 series 5G comes with its new Kirin 990 5G SoC. This is Huawei's first chip that uses 7nm + EUV extreme ultraviolet lithography.

Meanwhile, the Mate 30 Pro, sports a Gorilla Glass 6 protected 6.5-inch AMOLED display. The smartphopne comes with 8GB of memory and 256GB/512GB of storage.

The cameras on the back feature a 40MP primary, an 8MP telephoto, 40MP ultra-wide and a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.
